The Department of Surgical Oncology was initially guided by the stalwarts of the field, Dr. Prafulla Desai and Dr. Sultan Pradhan, Dr. Prafulla Desai and his team even performed the initial surgeries. Department is formed by team of Super specialist surgeons trained in renowned Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and other oncosurgical setups. This Department performs more than 1000 major & more than 500 minor surgeries in a year. Surgeries are performed in the state-of-the-art Modular Operation Theatres. The supra major surgeries include head and neck surgeries with reconstruction, surgeries for cancer of oesophagus and stomach, hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumours, colon and rectal cancers and cancers of female genital tract like ovarian cancer and cervical cancer. Bronchoscopy, DLscopy, upper GIscopy and LowerGIscopy are routinely performed in the department.

The state-of-the-art facilities include latest generation Olympus video endoscopes for upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, genitourinary tract and the respiratory system. The Department boasts of our wellequipped, air- conditioned modular operation theatres with modern technology for safe anaesthesia and surgery. The post-operative care is provided by in house intensivist & trained I.C.U. sta. The patients are monitored round the clock on multichannel monitors.
