Liver Tomour Cancer

Liver Tomour Cancer

Liver tumors can be either benign or malignant. When it comes to cancer, the primary concern is typically malignant tumors, which are cancerous and can be life-threatening

Types of Liver Cancer :

Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC): This is the most common type of primary liver cancer. It originates in the liver cells (hepatocytes). It's often associated with chronic liver conditions such as hepatitis B or C and cirrhosis.
Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer): This type of cancer starts in the bile ducts that run through the liver. It's less common than HCC but can be equally serious.
Hepatoblastoma: A rare type of liver cancer that typically affects children under 3 years old.
Angiosarcoma and Hemangiosarcoma: These are rare cancers that originate in the blood vessels of the liver.

Symptoms :

1. Unexplained weight loss
2. Loss of appetite
3. Pain in the upper right side of the abdomen
4. Nausea and vomiting
5. Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
6. Abdominal swelling
7. Feeling full after eating a small amount of food

Treatment:

1. Surgery: To remove part of the liver or the entire liver if the cancer is localized.
2. Ablation: Techniques like radiofrequency ablation (RFA) or microwave ablation destroy cancer cells using heat.
3. Chemotherapy: Medication used to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells, usually used when surgery isn’t an option.
4. Targeted Therapy: Drugs that target specific molecules involved in cancer growth.
5. Immunotherapy: Treatments that help the immune system recognize and fight cancer cells.
6. Liver Transplant: Replacing the diseased liver with a healthy one from a donor, often used for early-stage cancer.
